The Angel Falls (Kerepakupai Vein in pemón, which means "leap the deepest place") is the highest waterfall in the world with a height of 979 m (807 m of continuous fall), generated from the Auyantepuy. Located in the Canaima National Park in Bolivar State, Venezuela.
This nature reserve, established as a national park on June 12, 1962 and declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1994, covers an area of 30,000 km ² (similar to the land area of Belgium), to the borders Guyana and Brazil and its size is one of the largest in the world. The name that is universally known, Salto Angel, was released after the American aviator Jimmy Angel, who in 1937 announced the existence of the fall.
In 2009 she was nominated to compete in the seven natural wonders of the world, being the third most votes of 77 wonders in the world. From 77 finalists step at 28 most popular, and is in the top 10 places in the ranking, being the eighth highest number of votes.
